Euclid launches galaxy zoo citizen science project

ESA and Euclid consortium have partnered with Galaxy Zoo, and launched a citizen science project today, for members of the public to help classify the shapes of galaxies. The classification of galaxies is important for studying galaxy evolution, since the shape of a galaxy changes with cosmic time, and each Euclid image includes a huge number of galaxies spanning a wide range in cosmic time.

Volunteers on the Galaxy Zoo project can examine previously unseen images from the Euclid space telescope! For more details, and how to participate in this citizen science project, click here.
