On March 23, 2025, Euclid's optical VIS camera imaged a sky region in the bulge of the Milky Way, near its center, for about 24 hours. This is the Euclid Galactic Bulge Survey, which covers 4.8 sq deg, with unprecedented deep, wide-field, high-resolution view of the inner bulge region of our Milky Way galaxy.

This Euclid survey covers the region that Roman Space Telescope's Galactic Bulge Time Domain Survey will observe over a 5-year period from 2027 to discover microlensing planets, providing a baseline and enables powerful synergies to maximize science from the Roman survey.

Data from the Euclid Galactic Bulge Survey will be publicly released on June 24, 2026, as Quick Release 2 (Q2). Click here for details of the Euclid Galactic Bulge Survey.
